Situated in the very heart of central Europe, the Republic of Hungary is entirely landlocked, being surrounded by countries such as Austria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and the Ukraine.

Much of Hungary's landscape comprises many rolling fields, particularly around the Carpathian Basin, a vast green space split by the Danube River. Budapest is an extremely historic city and dates back almost 2,000 years, when early Roman settlements were first established. Full of traditional Hungarian charm, Budapest is famous for being home to the highest concentration of shopping centres in the whole of Europe.
